VITA

The Voluntary Income Tax Assistance - VITA - program is a joint iniative of the United Way of Escambia County and the IRS that provides free income tax preparation to low-to moderate-income (generally, $50,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns. We will have five regular VITA sites for the 2011 tax season, which runs from January 27 - April 15, 2012:

Pensacola State College (Main Site - opens 1/27)

   Tue/Thu: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
   Sat: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

St. Sylvester Catholic Church (opens 1/27)

   Mon/Fri: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
   Wed: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

University of West Florida (opens 1/30)

   Mon/Wed/Fri: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Southeast Vocational Services (opens 1/30)

   Mon-Fri: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

When you visit a VITA tax site, make sure to have the following information with you:

-Photo proof of identity
-Social Security cards for taxpayer, spouse, and all dependents
-All W2’s, 1098, and 1099 forms
-Childcare provider’s identification number
-Taxpayer’s banking information or a valid mailing address
-Estimated tax payments
-Amounts of other income
-Last year’s tax return, if possible
