2010-11 Funded Programs
During the 2009-10 Campaign, $2.3 million was pledged by donors to United Way of Escambia County. In 2010-11, more than 85 agencies will receive a share of $1.3 million in funds approved for allocation or as designated by the donor.
The remainder of the money is applied to other United Way programs and services such as disaster relief, First Call for Help, and volunteer programs such as the Escambia VISTA Coalition.
United Way's donor-driven Funds Distribution Process determined the allocation of $1,117,979 as follows:
EDUCATION PRIORITY
- AMIKids Pensacola: Counseling Alternatives ($27,306)
- Big Brothers Big Sisters: Big Brothers Big Sisters ($46,309) and Middle School Bigs ($19,413)
- Boys & Girls Club of Escambia County: Youth Development ($70,000)
- Community Drug & Alcohol Council: Project Boost ($10,000)
- Children’s Home Society of Florida: Teen Services (pregnancy prevention and education) ($15,000)
- CARE (Every Child a Reader in Escambia): Reading Pals Program (with Early Learning Coalition) ($8,000)
- Early Learning Coalition of Escambia County: Subsidized Child Care ($65,000)
- Learn to Read of Northwest Florida: Collaborative Partner Tutoring ($5,000)
- Gulf Coast Kid’s House: Kid’s House program (wrap-around services for abused children) ($15,000)
- Milk & Honey Outreach: Kids’ Club ($2,500)
- The Salvation Army: Youth Development and Juvenile Delinquency Prevention ($55,399)
- YMCA of NW Florida: Child Care and Safety Net ($43,526)

- ARC Gateway: Pearl Nelson Child Development Center ($73,000)
- Bay Area Food Bank: Local Food Pick-up and Distribution ($8,000)
- Children’s Home Society of Florida: Adoptions/Foster Care ($12,000) and Kugelman Counseling Center ($12,526)
- Council on Aging of West Florida: Meals on Wheels ($48,000) and Senior Companion Program ($12,000)
- Epilepsy Services of Northwest Florida: Emergency Assistance (medication) ($18,622) and Epilepsy Health Maintenance and Promotion ($7,500)
- Lakeview Center: Rape Crisis/Trauma Recovery Center ($9,000)
- Lutheran Services Florida: Sexual/Physical Abuse Treatment Center ($33,000)
- New Beginnings: Recovery Homes for Women ($15,000)
- Sacred Heart Foundation: Pediatric Dental Care ($9,000)
