Advocate
Anyone can champion the cause. Whether you’re speaking out to improve access to health or strengthen opportunities for young people to be successful, or reaching out to members of Congress, you can help inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.
Why Advocate?
As a leading community impact organization, United Way knows that real and sustained change in community conditions requires more than money. United Way engages decision-makers and policy leaders at the local, state and national levels to help address the most important community needs.
If you would like to be added to our advocate email list please email Melissa Lewis at melissa@unitedwayescambia.org. She will add you to our list and email you when an opportunity to advocate on issues that have impact on our community.
Frequently, this page will be updated with other specific ways you can advocate for local and national issues that affect the quality of life of all Escambia County residents. We invite you to check back often to find out how you can use your voice to champion the cause.
Volun Skip Housh on Advocacy
"Each of us has a voice and we can all champion a cause. I use my voice to advocate for children’s issues. Advocacy is extremely important for United Way and the network of nonprofit agencies that partner with United Way to improve lives here in Escambia County. When you advocate, you speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, our children, and you raise awareness about issues that concern all of us. Advocating for children’s issues is how I LIVE UNITED.”
