CRAM THE VAN SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE KICKS OFF 13th YEAR

The new school year is just around the corner. As you begin shopping for school supplies, please consider the thousands of kids inour community whose families are unable to afford the basics their children need to succeed.

Cram the Van, a school supply drive sponsored by WEAR ABC 3, Sandy Sansing Dealerships and United Way, is in its 13th year. In 2011, supplies were distributed to more than 7,600 students in Escambia County.

You can help by placing your school supply doations in designated boxes at local businesses including WEAR ABC 3, Sandy Sansing Dealerships, United Way of Escambia County, Staples or any local Walmart store. You can also drop supplies off during local Cram-A-Thons on July 26th. Cram the Van locations include:

Walmart-Mobile Hwy
6am-6:30pm
Sue Straughn, WEAR News Anchor, will broadcast live during local news programming

Walmart- Creighton Road
6am-6:30 pm
Cat Country 98.7 will broadcast live

Staples
10am-2pm
Soft Rock 94.1 will broadcast live

If you would like to make a monetary donation or donate a gift card for school supplies, contributions can be made out to Cram the Van/United Way and mailed to united Way of Escambia County, 1301 W. Government Street, Pensacola, FL 32502. The Cram the Van campaign will end August 16th.

In Escambia County, schools will receive "Cram the Van" supplies during the week of Aug. 13. Parents should contact their child's school regarding assistance.
